North Carolina Tar Heels visit Class of 2025 recruit Derek Dixon

Hubert Davis is entering his fourth season as head coach of the North Carolina Tar Heels men’s basketball team and has quickly shown his talent for recruiting players.

Davis’ previous signees include Seth Trimble, Cormac Ryan, Elliot Cadeau, Harrison Ingram, Drake Powell and Ian Jackson, the latter four of whom are five-stars. Trimble and Cadeau return from last year’s Sweet 16 team, while Powell and Jackson round out one of UNC’s deepest guard groups in years.

Davis is already busy recruiting the class of 2025, with 14 open offers. North Carolina received a 15th offer, but Jasper Johnson committed to Kentucky on Thursday, September 5.

Also on Thursday, the Tar Heels visited with another Class of 2025 recruit: 6-foot-1 combo guard Derek Dixon, who plays his high school basketball at Gonzaga College High School in Washington, D.C.

With RJ Davis out of eligibility after this season and Powell and Jackson potentially playing only one more season together, UNC hopes to sign Dixon soon.

Dixon, ranked No. 60 in the 247Sports Composite rankings, is averaging 15.3 points per game with Team Takeover on the Nike EYBL circuit. He previously narrowed his school list to six in July, with North Carolina among his finalists.
