Former President Donald Trump now absurdly claims that parents send their children to school, but they come home later that day a different gender because of sex reassignment surgery.

“Can you imagine being a parent and your son leaves the house and you say, ‘Jimmy, I love you so much. Go have a great day at school.’ And your son comes back with a brutal surgery,” Trump claimed at a campaign rally in Wisconsin on Saturday.

“Can you imagine? What the hell is wrong with our country?” he asked.

Trump previously made this claim to attendees at a Moms for Liberty event in Washington last month.

Trump’s own campaign “couldn’t find an example of ‘school secretly sends child for gender confirmation surgery without parental consent’ anywhere in the US,” CNN fact-checking expert Daniel Dale tweeted after Trump’s speech.

“Experts say it didn’t happen and it can’t happen,” Dale added. “It’s a lie.”

Besides the fact that schools are not hospitals, have no surgeons on site and no operating rooms (or hospital beds), Trump apparently thinks that complicated sex reassignment surgeries and recovery from them can be completed in a few short hours during the school day, say between geography and English class.

There was an uproar on social media after clips of Trump’s speech were posted online.

Some critics laughed, with one parent noting that it was impossible for his daughter to get even an ibuprofen tablet for a headache from the school nurse.

Another joke: maybe the cleaning ladies’ closets are operating rooms.

Others were outraged by the lie about schools, where the real fear is that American children will be shot by mass murderers. Trump, who stood behind bulletproof glass at the rally, did not mention this.
