Mark Cuban: Trump has never invested in startups outside his family

Billionaire investor Mark Cuban wants to answer a question he wants the people who voted for former President Donald Trump to answer. And he wants to prove something about it.

“To all the Trump supporters out there. Question. What startups has Donald Trump ever invested in that didn’t involve a family member?” the “Shark Tank” star wrote in an X post on Sunday.

Trump did not appear to have any investments in non-family businesses, Cuban later said in a conversation with another X user named Chart Westcott.

According to Cuban, this lack of investment was a reflection of Trump’s character.

“You invest in companies, right? How many super-rich business people do you know who have never decided to give a single entrepreneur a chance by investing in their company?” Cuban wrote in a message to Westcott.

“Don’t you have a desire to give back to others? To help startups as a way to help others achieve their American Dream?” Cuban wrote in a follow-up post.

“Every rich person I know, except DJT, has tried to help others.”

When asked for comment, a Trump campaign spokesman cited Trump’s track record as a real estate magnate.

“President Trump is a successful, self-made businessman who helped build and forever change New York’s iconic skyline,” the spokesperson said in a statement to Business Insider.

“His other ventures include creating and starring in one of the most-watched television shows in history — far more successful than Shark Tank — and subsequently becoming the 45th President of the United States,” the spokesperson continued.

Before entering politics, Trump was both the host and co-producer of the reality series “The Apprentice” on NBC from 2004 to 2015.

NBC reportedly parted ways with Trump in June 2015 over his comments about Mexican immigrants during his first presidential campaign.

It is not the first time that Cuban has criticized Trump’s track record as a businessman.

Cuban, who said in November that he supports Vice President Kamala Harris, compared Trump to a “snake oil salesman” during an interview with Axios earlier this year.

“I don’t want a snake oil salesman for president. I’ll vote Biden/Harris over Trump all day long,” Cuban told the outlet in a story published in March.

“Trump voters are happy with their snake oil, whether it works or not,” Cuban added.

Representatives for Cuban did not immediately respond to a request for comment sent outside regular business hours.
