AMD Interviews: Kraken Coming in 2025, Radeon for the Masses

In an interview with Toms hardware Sprach AMD’s leading computer and graphics department Jack Huyn has developed his own GPU strategy. The active devices that are now used are AMD with the Radeon RX generation based on the RDNA 4 architecture, but the address for the high-end segment is no longer available.

While Hyunh’s nun goes into the wiper, it is true that AMD is no longer the “King of the Hill” strategy was published. Statistics will still have a market force, but that will be sunk in the sale of money in the graphics segment of the market. If we see the chance that AMD has a market position of 12%, NVIDIA will dominate with 88%.

I look at scale, and AMD is in a different position now. We have this debate quite a bit at AMD, right? So the question I ask is, do you think the PlayStation 5 hurts us? It’s $499. So I ask, is it fun to be King of the Hill? Again, I look at scale. Because if we get scale, I’m going to take developers with me.

So my top priority right now is to build scale, to get us to 40 to 50 percent of the market faster. Do I want to go for 10 percent of the TAM or 80 percent? I’m an 80 percent guy, because I don’t want AMD to be the company that only people who can afford Porsches and Ferraris can buy. We want to build gaming systems for millions of users.

Yeah, we’re going to have great, great, great products. But we’ve tried that strategy — it hasn’t really grown. ATI has tried this King of the Hill strategy, and market share is kind of — market share. I want to build the best products at the right system price. So, think about price; we’re going to be the leader.

– Jack Hyunh, AMD Vice President of the Computing and Graphics Spartan

Between 40 and 50% of the AMD market and 80% of the TAM (total addressable market) the German was most attractive, as 10% of the high-end markets sold. Damit dared to focus on AMD clearly.

There is a question that AMD puts on the market with a market value of 12% for the Entwicklern hat. The human will also come on the market, a bit in that underlying argument for his or her life, while it is wise to use spy players who want 88% of the NVIDIA Nutzer answers and then first on the 12% of the AMD cards are stürzen. This new technology is a new FSR version that naturally becomes more attractive, as the market goes higher.

Zen-5-CPU Kraken arrives in 2025

Ebenfalls with Jack Huynh in the conversation were the Kollegen von ComputerBase. Here in the battle against the Notebook Strategy for AMD. It is likely that AMD will no longer be able to display the Strix Point CPUs aka Ryzen AI 300 with variants with Zen 5 architecture. Kraken/Krackan Point (the given name, i.e. the spelling is not known) offers up to eight Zen 5/5c cores and addresses more favorable notebooks. AMD will make Kraken/Krackan Point available from 2025.

Current prices Notebooks with Ryzen AI 300 from 1,500 euros, with Qualcomm with its Snapdragon X Elite and Plus from 959 euros separately. There are more Plus variants with eight cores that can also use ARM notebooks. The model model with Intel’s Lunar Lake Processor would be sold for an amount of 1,199 euros.

AMD also has a problem with the preparation and the problem of old repairs and those of old models. If you are busy for a while with new Ryzen generations for the notebooks that have AMD’s problem, then the man can not use the problem and can be nice for all kinds of problems. Because the Gründe is less busy, after the IFA 2024 there is a clear experience, most repairer presentations could appear on Lunar Lake and displace Intel. Qualcomm itself could use relatively much brand awareness for the new eight-core model, in which AMD played almost no role.
