Revealed: Why Arsenal will not be allowed to play in their home kit when they travel to face rivals Tottenham on Sunday

Arsenal will not be allowed to play in their traditional red home kit for this weekend’s North London derby against Tottenham after the Premier League and PGMOL said it contained too much white.

Bizarrely, the Gunners’ red shirt is being seen as a potential colour clash with Spurs’ white home shirt.

Arsenal attempted to compromise and offered the option of wearing red shorts and socks instead, but this was rejected.

As a result, they will wear their black away kit for the crucial match at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next Sunday. Arsenal were reportedly informed in advance of a potential clash, but it was too late to change their kit design.

The decision by the PGMOL and the Premier League also means Spurs will wear different colours when they visit the Emirates Stadium in January.
