Indian spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has completed 100 First-Class wickets with a fifer for Northamptonshire in a crucial County Championship Division Two match against Derbyshire.

Northamptonshire were bowled out for 219 runs in their first innings, but Chahal’s whistle allowed Derbyshire to score only 165 runs.

Northamptonshire led by 232 runs at stumps on Day 2. In their 2nd innings, they are 178/5.

Chahal claims 5/45 from 16.3 overs

Chahal bowled 16.3 overs and conceded 45 runs for his five-wicket haul (2 maidens).

Chahal’s first wicket came in the 52nd over with the dismissal of Aneurin Donald, who was caught. In the 56th over, Chahal sent back Wayne Madsen, who was bowled.

In the same over he dismissed Zak Chappell. The likes of Alex Thomson and Jack Morley were his last scalps.

An important milestone for Chahal

According to ESPNcricinfoChahal played his 38th First-Class match and crossed the 100-wicket mark.

He has 102 wickets at an average of 34-plus. This was his third five-wicket haul in FC cricket.

Earlier in the County Championship Division 2 this season, Chahal won 1/48 and 0/29 against Middlesex.

In a rainy match against Gloucestershire, Chahal bowled only overs (0/9).
