2 men arrested for attacking army officers, raping their girlfriend in MPTwo men were arrested on Thursday for attacking two army officers and allegedly raping one of their girlfriends during a picnic in Mhow town in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore district, police said.
Six suspects have been identified in connection with the incident that took place in the early hours of Wednesday in Jam Gate area of ​​the hilly region surrounded by forests, police chief (rural) Hitika Vasal told PTI.
While two of them were arrested, the search was on for the other four suspects, she said.
The two army officers, aged 23 and 24, who were undergoing young officers (YO) training at the infantry school in Mhow cantonment, had gone for a picnic along with two female friends on Tuesday when the incident took place, Badgonda police station in-charge Lokendra Singh Hirore said earlier.
According to Vasal, the suspect held one of the couple captive while beating them up, and told the other couple that the hostages would be released only if they gave them 10 lakh rupees.
“The complainant told us that the suspect took his girlfriend to a place and that he suspected that she was raped. The statement of the woman is yet to be recorded,” the official said.
When police received information about the incident, they rushed to the scene and started an investigation, she said.
All the suspects are residents of nearby villages and two of them have criminal pasts, the official said.
An FIR has been registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act on charges of assault, robbery and rape, she said.
