Duleep Trophy: Anshul takes 5 wickets with Rinku, Musheer and Sarfaraz scalps

Right-handed seamer Anshul Kamboj excelled with the ball on Day 3 of the Duleep Trophy match between India C and India B at the Rural Development Trust Stadium B. The 23-year-old took a five-wicket haul against India B. Interestingly, all the wickets that fell since the morning of Day 3 were all picked up by Anshul. The speedster managed to dismiss all the top five batters including Musheer Khan, Sarfaraz Khan, Rinku Singh, Nitish Reddy and Narayan Jagadeesan. All the big hitters could not survive his pace and accuracy as he provided crucial breakthroughs for India C.

The Haryana-born all-rounder gave the India B batters a run for their money on Day 3 as he took his maiden five-wicket haul in first-class cricket. India C began Day 3 with an overnight score of 123 for no loss with India B captain Abhimanyu Easwaran and N. Jagadeesan dominating proceedings on a flat track. Anshul provided the much-needed breakthrough by dismissing Duleep Trophy debutant Jagadeesan for 70 when he was caught behind the wickets by Abhishek Porel.

Anshul’s maiden 5-wicket haul

The 129-run opening stand was finally broken and Anshul struck again with the wicket of Musheer Khan, who managed just one run from 15 deliveries. Sarfaraz Khan fell for 16 to Anshul, who trapped him in front. India B were in further trouble with the fourth wicket of Rinku, who departed after scoring four runs when he was caught by Ishan Kishan at mid-off. Nitish Kumar proved to be the fifth scalp when he was disposed of by the pacer.

Abhimanyu Eswaran held the fort at one end with his century knock but could find no support at the other end as India B were reduced from 129/0 to 194/5.

Who is Anshul Kamboj?

The 23-year-old played 14 matches and took 27 wickets, at an average of 38.14. Anshul made his debut for Haryana in first-class cricket against Tripura in 2022 and made his first-ever appearance for Mumbai Indiana in IPL 2024. He made his debut for MI against SRH and dismissed Mayank Agarwal.
