Real Madrid to complete deal for world-class defender in January

Real Madrid have been tracking Alphonso Davies for some time now, as the Canadian left-back is a top target in the transfer market.

The Spanish giants initially wanted to sign him in the summer, but negotiations stalled due to Bayern Munich’s high asking price.

Now, The Blancos are focusing on the possibility of signing Davies on a free transfer when his contract with Bayern expires next June, as they believe it is unlikely he will extend his contract with the German champions.

According to Diario AS, Real Madrid are confident they have won the battle for Davies from 2025 onwards.

The club is on track as they plan to begin contract negotiations in January, with the aim of reaching an agreement quickly.

Although his arrival will have to wait until July, the left-back would join the team without a transfer fee.

The signing of the Canadian international is a major acquisition for Real Madrid, even though his form has declined somewhat over the past year.

Upon his arrival at the Santiago Bernabeu, Davies is expected to battle Ferland Mendy for the left-back position, with the Frenchman set to extend his contract and remain at the club beyond 2025.
