Batman & Robin stars Arnold Schwarzenegger and Uma Thurman reunite in new photo: "Watch out, Batman"

Say “freeze”! Nearly 30 years after they went head-to-head with the dynamic duo of George Clooney and Chris O’Donnell in 1997 Batman and RobinArnold Schwarzenegger and Uma Thurman are Bat-together. The actors — who played the icy Mr. Freeze and the venomous Poison Ivy opposite the late Robert Swenson’s Bane — are seen as a frozen in a selfie posted to Instagram. “Freeze and Ivy, reunited,” Schwarzenegger captioned the post, with a chilling warning: “Watch out, Batman.”

The viral photo comes months after Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito, who played the Penguin in the 1992 film, Batman Returnsmocked former Dark Knight Michael Keaton as they stood together onstage at the 2024 Oscars.

Schwarzenegger and Thurman portrayed the DC Comics villains in the pun-filled 1997 film, which also paired Alicia Silverstone’s Batgirl with the Dark Knight and the Boy Wonder. Despite underperforming at the box office and widely considered the worst Batman film, Schwarzenegger had nothing but ice things to say when he reflected on his role as the Batman villain in a 2019 video for GQ.

“Interestingly enough, my motivation there originally was to work with (director) Joel Schumacher,” Schwarzenegger said. “I just thought his directing style was so brilliant, and there was a certain intensity to his films, but also a certain nonchalance. I saw him directing on set once and I saw his style, and I loved it when he would always say to the actors, ‘Let’s do one for the artist.’ Which is, ‘Do your own version, whatever you want to do.’ And I just thought that was fantastic, because every actor always wants to do their own way, a version, rather than being directed or controlled. And Joel Schumacher did that.”

Schwarzenegger then praised Clooney’s masked crusader, adding that the “rising” THERE star was “amazing to work with. He was very, very nice and a sweetheart of a guy to work with.” The actor’s only complaint was wearing the LED-lit Mr. Freeze suit, which required him “to spend five hours every day doing makeup and all those outfits,” Schwarzenegger said. “So it took a lot of discipline and a lot of hard work.”

Thurman similarly praised the director in a 2022 interview with Entertainment Tonight, recalling the campy Batman and Robin as a “fantastic experience.”

“I had to wear a lot of rubber suits,” said the Kill Bill the star said. “I didn’t have a rubber mask. I had my own face. But I did have some rubber devices on my face sometimes. That was about as much rubber as I’ve ever worked with, personally.”
