This episode comes just before December 1st, World AIDS Day, so we chose our topic accordingly. Although public discourse seems to be very interested in sexually transmitted diseases, we tend to discuss them as something of the past. They have certainly defined the entire period of human history up to now, but they are far from gone: more than 1 million new infections are acquired worldwide every day, and diseases such as syphilis, HIV, chlamydia, trichomonas and HPV viruses are on the rise across Europe. Our guests discuss why this news is flying under the radar, as well as the stigma of sexual and reproductive health. Episode guests Dr. Danae Maragouthakis, MD, sexologist, co-founder of Yoxly Dr. Béla Tamási, dermatologist and STD specialist, National STD Centre in Budapest, HU Trajche Janushev, program officer at SWAN, the Sex Worker’s Rights Advocacy Network
