Anlässlich des Nationals Wahltages, REM has released a digital compilation entitled “We Are Hope Despite The Times”. This series contains 18 songs from the band and a fantastic theme with active and social responsibility. The Veröffentlichung soll de Bedeutung der Teilnahme am demokratische Prozess betonen en de Menschen dazu ermutigen, je Stimme bei the bevorstehenden Wahlen abzugeben.

The compilation brings together a series of songs, the band’s involvement in social and political themes more broadly mirrored. Under the overwhelming title finds its classic with “World Leader Pretend”, “Fall On Me”, “Welcome To The Occupation”, “Drive”, “Finest Work Song” and “It’s the End of the World As We Know It (And I Feel Good)”.

The title “We Are Hope Despite The Times” is taken from the song “We are young despite the years / We are worried, we are hope despite the times” from the song “These Days” from the album “Lifes Rich Pageant” (1986). This song text was no longer followed by the central theme, but REM with the rendering of wollen: Despite the challenges and insecurity, the opposed words, the hope for a better future remains.
