BREAKING NEWS: INSECURITY IN SANKERA-BENUE, TOR TIV ROARS.

The Chairman of the Benue Traditional Council, Prof. James Ortese Ayatse, has raged and vowed to hold accountable all traditional rulers involved in banditry, killings and kidnappings in the area.

This is stated in a statement made public through Freddie Adamgbe, his personal assistant for Media and ICT.

The statement read:

The paramount leader of the Tiv nation, Orcivirigh Prof James Ortese Iorzua Ayatse CFR, is concerned about the serious allegations leveled against some traditional rulers in the Sankera axis of the Tiv nation for their complicity in banditry and disruption of law and order in the area. He has resolved to investigate the serious allegations and take urgent and appropriate measures to address the situation with a view to restoring the confidence of the general public in the traditional institution.

Begha u Tiv also assured that he will do everything possible to bring lasting peace to the once vibrant economic hub of Benue. He will work with the Benue State Government and law enforcement agencies to root out those who continue to fuel criminality in Sankera.

Orcivirigh Ayatse stressed that the role of traditional rulers is to ensure the safety and protection of the traditional and cultural values ​​of their people and not to aggravate their plight. He said if they have compromised the standard practices expected of them, they will not be spared..

He warned that attempts by some enemies of the people to silence those with useful information to expose the perpetrators and their accomplices in the crime will not be appreciated. He further called on the government and security agencies to ensure the protection of all informants with relevant information on the crisis.

He commended the leadership in Sankera and the Bishop of Katsina Ala Diocese, the Most Reverend Bundepuun Dugu, and other members of the clergy for their tireless efforts and the crucial meetings aimed at restoring peace in the area. He urged them to sustain these efforts to achieve the desired results.

He regretted that despite the difficult times the people are going through, the youths of Sankera have chosen to collaborate with enemies to unleash more terror in their communities by destroying the economy and agricultural produce. There is an urgent need for a sustainable solution to this menace.

He however urged the people of Sankera to have strong faith in the power of God. He is the only one who can touch the hearts of the bad elements so that they will stop terrorizing their country.
