Blue Jays fans bought more than 700,000 hot dogs this season, setting a new franchise record

Toronto Blue Jays fans have set a new franchise record for most dogs purchased in a single season.

The team announced Tuesday that more than 700,000 hot dogs were purchased during this year’s “Loonie Dogs” nights, surpassing last year’s record of 693,865.

According to the Blue Jays, the average number of hot dogs eaten per game this season is 56,541.

As the name suggests, Blue Jays fans can purchase hot dogs for $1 every Tuesday during a home game.

There were 12 “Loonie Dogs” nights this season. The most hot dogs purchased at a game this season was 71,391 on August 6 when the Blue Jays took on the Baltimore Orioles.

The record for most hot dogs eaten per game was set on August 29, 2023 at 76,627.

The Blue Jays lost 6-5 to the Red Sox in extra innings on Tuesday and will play them again on Wednesday before closing out the season with a three-game series against the Miami Marlins this weekend.

The Blue Jays are in last place in the American League East.
