The Abbott Elementary staff struggles with classroom pets, ringworm and human resources in the Season 4 trailer

The loyal staff at Abbott Elementary are faced with so much to deal with in the Season 4 trailer above that they wouldn’t begrudge a raise, or at the very least a new supply of paper towels.

In preparation for the return of the acclaimed comedy (on Wednesday, October 9 at 9:30/8:30 p.m., where it is currently being released The Golden Bachelorette), ABC has released a trailer filled with mishaps, including an unwelcome visit from HR, the unleashing of biting class animals, and an outbreak of ringworm that prompts at least one teacher to call for a fire to be burned down.

What else is in store for Season 4? As detailed as part of TVLine’s Fall TV Preview extravaganza, the new school year does indeed bring new threats to Abbott. “There’s a larger, threatening change happening in the neighborhood where Abbott is actually located, and we’re seeing the impact of that on our school,” executive producer/star Quinta Brunson shared with us.

Meanwhile, Brunson didn’t reveal whether Janine and Gregory’s heated final kiss means the pair are now officially a couple, but “it’s is “Something that changes their dynamic,” she said.

Elsewhere, viewers will meet some of Jacob’s family members; Barbara considers making “changes” to keep up with a changing world; “downright funny” Melissa episodes will showcase the unsung Lisa Ann Walter; and even the mysterious Mr. Johnson will get “bigger storylines.”
