Servant escapes with 100 grams of gold coin and foreign currency

A housekeeper involved in a theft at Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka’s residence in Banjara Hills was arrested by the Government Railway Police in Kharagpur, West Bengal on Thursday. The suspects, identified as Roshan Kumar Mandal and Uday Kumar Thakur from Bihar, have confessed their involvement in the burglary.

Authorities have recovered Rs 2.2 lakh in cash, a 100 gram gold coin, silver items and foreign currency stolen from the deputy CM’s house. According to police, the suspects had fled with Rs 80,000 cash and assorted silver jewellery.

The theft took place while the deputy CM was on a foreign tour. The crime was discovered when Bhatti’s personal secretary tried to contact Roshan, who had been working as a watchman in the house for four months. Receiving no response, the secretary visited the home but found the door unlocked and the cupboards open, indicating that a robbery had taken place.

The quick action of the police led to the recovery of the stolen items and the arrest of the perpetrators. The investigation is ongoing and further details about the suspects’ motives and plans are expected to emerge.

The complainant reported that Rs 80,000 in cash and several silver items were missing.

Meanwhile, Kharagpur RPF arrested Roshan Mandal and Uday Kumar Thakur during a routine check and allegedly confiscated Rs 2.2 lakh in cash, 100 grams of gold and foreign currency from their possession, Deccan Chronicle reported.
