Two-year-old suffers food poisoning after eating cockroach-filled omelette on Air India

A passenger slammed Air India for allegedly serving an inflight meal containing a cockroach, causing her two-year-old son to suffer food poisoning.

The traveler, Suyesha Savant, recently flew on an Air India flight from Delhi to New York, after which she went to X to talk about her unpleasant experience.

“I found a cockroach in the omelette served to me on the @airindia flight from Delhi to New York,” the traveler said in her post.

“My 2 year old finished more than half of it with me when we found this. As a result, he suffered from food poisoning,” Savant added.

In the social media post, she also shared photos of the dead cockroach that was present in the omelet.

The woman also posted a video she recorded during the flight to capture the dirt on the plane.

“Even the pockets of this seat were not clean and there were waste bottles in it, and when I alerted the staff about this, they said it was a mistake. But how many mistakes?” Savant said.

This is how Air India responded to the incident

Speaking to FOX Business, an Air India spokesperson said they are aware of the incident.

The Air India official said the airline “works with renowned caterers who supply leading airlines across the world and maintains stringent SOPs (standard operating procedures) and multiple controls to ensure the quality of meals served to our guests. ”

“We are concerned about the customer’s experience in the said case and have contacted our catering service provider to investigate this further. We will take necessary measures to prevent recurrence of such cases in the future,” the spokesperson added.

This is not the first time that Air India has come under scrutiny over the hygienic conditions of their aircraft.

Another passenger had documented his experience on a first-class flight from Chicago to Delhi last week, saying it was the “worst first-class cabin I have ever been in.”

The video showed torn furniture, dirt-covered crevices and a cabin full of hair.

“The entertainment system did not work for the entire 15 hours. Everything was broken. They literally put tape on the wall to stick that stuff down. It was a nightmare. I was robbed on this flight,” the passenger said.
