The Ministry of Justice targets enemies of the regime

When it comes to the explosion of the rule of law under the Biden administration, you have to admit that something just doesn’t smell right. And by that I mean it stinks to high heaven.

Last week, news broke that New York Mayor Eric Adams is facing federal charges related to alleged bribery, wire fraud and soliciting illegal foreign campaign donations. The crux of this particular case appears to surround the allegation that Adams sought and accepted illegal campaign funds as well as more than $100,000 in travel benefits from Turks.

And what would Adams have done in return for apparent airline and hotel room upgrades? Pressure the city’s fire department to expedite temporary certification of occupancy of a new building.

Adams, one of the few high-profile Democrats who have dared to acknowledge the insanity of the Biden-Harris administration’s open-borders policy, responded by denying any wrongdoing.

“I ask New Yorkers to wait for our defense before passing judgment,” Adams said. “I follow the rules. I follow federal law. I do nothing that contributes to illegal campaign activities.”

If Adams is indeed guilty of these charges, his conduct must be condemned. But it’s also important to point out that this indictment came only after Adams swam against the tide and criticized the Biden administration’s immigration policies.

For the justice system to be effective in any way, it must exist in an environment of fundamental justice, in which people face consequences proportionate to their crimes, and in which two people who commit the same kind of crime face the same kinds of consequences.

And our current federal legal system guarantees the exact opposite.

Hunter Biden, the son of Joe Biden – the man who is still president of the United States, by the way – has escaped the vast majority of legal consequences for a long list of apparent concerns about foreign influence in politics and blatant corruption. Hunter Biden allegedly sold access to his father, but absolutely nothing happened. Without a handful of Republicans, Hunter Biden wouldn’t even have faced the consequences of illegally owning a firearm or evading taxes.

What about Paul Pelosi, the husband of Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), and his history of spectacularly lucky stock moves, most recently his decision to dump Visa stock weeks before the Justice Department filed a lawsuit against the company ?

And there are even rumors that disgraced former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is eyeing Adams’ job if these charges stick, as if accepting travel perks is worse than sending thousands of elderly New Yorkers gleefully to their deaths during the COVID-19 pandemic. .

Fortunately, they are all Democrats who follow the Biden-Harris party line.

This is not to say that Republicans or even critics of Democrats should avoid the consequences of their actions. But it is a call for the federal justice system to treat Democrats with a fraction of the ruthlessness it reserves for its political enemies. In that world, Adams would be the latest in a long line of Democrats to face the brutal reality of actual justice.
