OPP identify victim of fatal crash on Highway 17

A Scugog Township, Ontario man died on September 26 after being struck by a transport truck

IGNACE – Ontario Provincial Police say they have confirmed the identity of the person killed in a collision between motor vehicles and pedestrians on Highway 17 in Northwestern Ontario.

The deceased was a 58-year-old man from Scugog Township, Ont. Police did not provide the victim’s name.

He was killed on September 26 when he was struck by a tractor-trailer while walking along the highway just west of English River.

The highway was closed for nearly eight hours while police investigated.

In an update issued Tuesday, OPP said that while the investigation is ongoing, no charges are being considered at this time.
