Man accused of strangling his mother and then calling 911 to report what he did

A 27-year-old man in Rhode Island allegedly strangled his mother and then called 911 to confess to killing her.

According to NBC 10 WJAR, Bryan Wilson is suspected of killing his mother, Hawazoe Robinson, on Monday. Wilson appeared in Washington County District Court on Tuesday, where he was charged with domestic homicide and violating a no-contact order.

Police in Narragansett were called to Robinson’s home Monday afternoon to conduct a welfare check. As they responded to the house, Wilson reportedly called 911 to confess to the murder.

He reportedly told the 911 dispatcher that he and his mother had gotten into an argument and that he had strangled her.

A neighbor told NBC 10 reporters that police had previously been called to the home about calls related to Robinson’s son.

He was arrested in 2023 and charged with simple domestic violence. His mother was also a victim of that attack.

Wilson is being held without bail. According to WPRI, his case has been referred to a grand jury. Wilson’s next court hearing is scheduled for October 9.

Robinson reportedly converted a building on property she inherited from her father in Liberia into a free Christian school for children in need, according to a neighbor who spoke to NBC 10.

Neighbors who spoke to the broadcaster said she was often in Africa and that she was friendly.
