2 arrested for attempted armed robbery and carjacking of woman at Waterford Township gas station

WATERFORD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Two men have been arrested in Waterford Township after an armed robbery and carjacking of a woman who was filling up her tank at a gas station.

The incident occurred on Saturday (September 28) at the Citgo gas station in the 4289 block of Walton Boulevard.

Officials said the two men arrived at the gas station in a black Ford Mustang, which was later determined to be stolen, and approached the woman who was filling her tank.

Police said one of the men pulled out a black handgun, pointed it at the woman and demanded the keys to her car.

Officials said the victim was assisted by another person who was also fueling their vehicle, and both men got back into the stolen Mustang and fled the scene.

An off-duty Waterford police officer spotted the suspect vehicle in the Meijer parking lot on Highland Road in Waterford.

The officer relayed the information to Waterford Dispatch and watched as the men moved through the lot.

Uniformed officers arrived and conducted a felony stop on the vehicle, arresting both men for the attempted carjacking at the Citgo gas station and likely preventing another attempt by the same men.

Officials say two guns were recovered at the scene, along with additional magazines and ammunition.

The case has been transferred to the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office for their review and consideration of criminal charges.
