Police warn after man ‘dressed as a schoolboy offered to take child home from class’

Police have warned concerned parents after a man allegedly dressed up as a schoolboy and offered to take a child home from class.

A student at Priory Ruskin Academy in Grantham claimed they were approached by a man wearing the school uniform of navy blue trousers and offered to take them home on September 27.

Lincolnshire Police were alerted to the incident and spoke to the student and the school, which sent an email to parents.

The academy advised students to call 999 if they noticed similar sightings and encouraged parents and carers to remind their children of the safety measures.

A school in Sleaford recently reported a similar incident involving a man in a school uniform standing in the street next to the school

A police spokesperson said: ‘On Friday afternoon we received a report that a student at Priory Ruskin Academy had been approached by an unknown person with blond bangs and glasses who was wearing a school uniform.

‘It is not known whether this was a man or a woman. We spoke with the student and the school and the school sent an email to the parents.

‘We encourage anyone who is concerned about someone else behaving suspiciously to report it to the police.’

Lincolnshire Police added that the incident is not linked to a TikTok user called smartschoolboy9, who posts videos online while dressed as a schoolboy.

The King’s School in Grantham also issued a statement to parents after the incident, asking children to ‘stay alert and not talk to strangers’.
