ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – A St. Louis County man allegedly posed as a woman on dating apps to lure other men to meetings and then robbed them at gunpoint, authorities say.

The St. Louis County Prosecutor’s Office has charged 26-year-old Ernest Johnson with first-degree robbery, vehicle hijacking and two counts of armed criminal action during the investigation.

Johnson is accused of planning armed robberies last summer in north St. Louis County after contacting the victims through the dating app BLK.

According to court documents obtained by FOX 2, one victim agreed to meet a person he thought was a woman on June 21. When the victim arrived at the agreed meeting place, he was robbed at gunpoint by three men. The group took his phone and other belongings.

On June 27, a second victim planned to meet a person he also thought was a woman on the dating app BLK. He was given a telephone number, although it belonged to Johnson, to arrange a meeting. After arrival, the victim was ordered out of his car at gunpoint by two men.

However, the victim tried to drive away and was shot by an armed man, according to court documents. Police later reviewed the case and determined that Johnson’s IP address was associated with communications with both victims.

Johnson was booked into St. Louis County jail on a $500,000 cash-only bond.
