Mednax pays $6 million to settle 2020 data breach lawsuit

Mednax Inc. will pay $6 million to settle allegations that it failed to protect the personal information of more than 2.7 million patients exposed in a phishing attack and data breach in 2020, under a deal that received final approval by the federal court.

The settlement provides each class member with up to $5,000 for documented costs arising from the breach and up to $420 in reimbursement for time spent responding to it.
