First Class coach on time for Corris Railway Diamond Jubilee?

First Class coach on time for Corris Railway Diamond Jubilee?

The Corris Railway is working to introduce first class travel for the first time in almost 100 years.

The association was founded in 1966 and work on a new carriage is progressing well with a hoped-for introduction of the first class carriage in 2026.

The carriage, number 24, is being built in the Maespoeth Junction sheds and it is hoped that the carriage will be fully ready for painting by the end of October.

Lately work has focused on completing the vestibule panels and etched glass for the end of the first class compartment.

Clerestory roof fans have been produced, with car 24 being the second of the newly built fleet to have a roof.

Funding for the new carriage has come from the Corris Railway Society and is being built by volunteers.
