House suffers significant damage from fire in Bearspaw

A fire damaged a large home in Bearspaw Saturday evening.

Saturday around 9:15 p.m., EMS responded to a home around Blackwell Bay and Town Road 254 in the Bearspaw community after reports of a house fire.

EMS assessed two adults who were able to leave the home and ultimately took one person to the hospital, but a spokesperson said this was for medical concerns and not related to the fire.

Neighbor Shannon MacDonald said in an email to CTV News that the house was on Taylor Bay and was one of the original houses built on the street in the 1980s.

She said the residents were the original owners who lost more than 40 years of memories.

“The Rockyview Fire Department arrived quickly, but the entire house burned down very quickly,” she said.

She said no other properties in the area suffered any damage.
