A man tried to smuggle a condom full of cocaine and ketamine inside himself into Creamfields. Liam George, from Twynygarrag, Treharris, Merthyr Tydfil, had attended the festival in Daresbury on Friday, August 26, 2022.

The 27-year-old was brought to the attention of police at around 7.45pm following a positive indication from a drug dog. He was taken to a private search area by officers, who noticed that his pupils were dilated, and he was extremely agitated.

When questioned, George admitted to having a condom filled with illegal drugs hidden in his anus. He then tried to remove the package, causing the condom to tear. Even though the package was broken, officers were able to recover several bags of cocaine and ketamine.

George was arrested at the scene on suspicion of drug trafficking. During interrogation, he did not comment on any questions asked of him by officers.

Cheshire Police said that despite his silence, he was later charged with possession with intent to supply class A drugs (cocaine) and possession with intent to supply class B drugs (ketamine). He appeared at Chester Crown Court on Thursday, October 24, where he pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply class A and B drugs.

After the hearing, police officer Neil Fleming, who led the investigation, said: “I welcome the sentence imposed on George and I hope it will serve as a warning to others thinking of bringing illegal drugs into Cheshire. Every year before the festival we work hard to ensure that all visitors are fully aware of the consequences they face if they bring illegal drugs onto the premises.

‘They are also given ample opportunity to dispose of the drugs in drop-off bins before going through the search process. But despite all the warnings, George still thought he could make a quick buck selling illegal drugs. now faces a prison sentence.”

Liam George will be sentenced on December 9.
