Best GPR 91 Gear in Black Ops 6: Class Lineup, Attachments, Perks

Best GPR 91 Gear in Black Ops 6: Class Lineup, Attachments, Perks

The GPR 91 Assault Rifle is a relatively early unlock in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and seems like a good option to get into the meta in the early weeks. For that reason, you need to make sure you build your gear specifically to increase its benefits and negate its disadvantages.

The GPR 91 has great handling and a solid rate of fire compared to other ARs in Black Ops 6, which makes up for its slightly reduced damage compared to that of the XM4 and the AK-74, allowing it to compete alongside them.

Many pros even use the GPR 91, so that could indicate that it will belong in the BO6 meta in the long run.

That said, you need to build the weapon and overall class well to get the most out of it. This is what you need to do.

Best GPR 91 gear

  • Optical: Kepler Microflex
  • Snout: Ported compensator
  • Walk: Reinforced barrel
  • Underrun: Vertical handle
  • Magazine: Extended Mag I
  • Back handle: Quickdraw handle
  • Stock: Balanced stock
  • Fire mods: Return springs
Best GPR class in Black Ops 6

The GPR is seriously understated with a full suite of attachments.

First of all, the Kepler Microflex is a solid scope that feels natural to look through and doesn’t take up too much of the screen, making it easy to spot opponents from a distance.

While the gun handles quite well, you can make it shoot like a laser with certain attachments. First of all, the Ported compensator improves both initial shot and vertical recoil control, while the Vertical handle Significantly improves horizontal kickback control. Then the Recoil springs Fire Mod improves both horizontally and vertically, giving the weapon the tightest possible bullet spread.

The Reinforced barrel is the best choice to improve the weapon’s damage range and bullet speed, making it easier to take out opponents from a distance. Combine that with the above recoil-oriented attachments and your GPR will barely move.

The GPR has a pretty poor base magazine size at only 25, but the Extended Mag I almost doubles that to 45, which is hugely beneficial for any assault rifle, especially one that shoots as fast as the GPR.

Finally, you want to improve the speed of the gun. The Quickdraw handle will help you with ADS much faster and give you an edge in firefights, while the Balanced stock Improves your aim walking movement, normal movement, hip fire movement and strafing movement speeds. If you’re looking for an all-around velocity attachment for your assault rifle, this is it.

Best GPR Class: Perks, Equipment, Combat Specialty, etc

  • Wild card: Gunfighter
  • Basic advantage 1: Scavenger
  • Basic benefit 2: Fast hands
  • Basic benefit 3: Double time
  • Deadly: Semtex
  • Tactical equipment: Concussion Grenade
Perks and gear for a GPR class in Black Ops 6

A Call of Duty weapon can be taken from good to great with the right class around it, so here’s why we picked these perks and gear.

For benefit 1, Scavenger is the best choice for the GPR. Due to its impressive rate of fire, you’ll definitely run out of ammo if you go on a killstreak, and you’ll want to negate that. While the Assault Pack field upgrade is an option, Scavenger may be more reliable, meaning you don’t have to wait for the field upgrade to load.

However, Perks 2 and 3 focus on speed and being reactive. For benefit 2, Fast hands you can switch to your secondary weapon much more quickly, especially useful if you run out of ammo or get caught in a close-range firefight where a pistol might excel.

Perk 3 was harder to determine, perhaps because there are several viable options here, but we’ll go with it Double time to increase the duration of the tactical sprint, meaning you can travel through the map much faster. For this particular weapon, Double Time is more useful than other solid options like Quartermaster for recharging equipment, or Guardian, for faster healing while playing the objective.

As for the rest of the class, the Gunfighter Wildcard is needed to get 8 attachments on your weapon, and this is more beneficial to the GPR than the other options. The Semtex And Concussion grenades are also fairly standard choices that will be popular across all trims.

In the end we went for the Trophy system field upgrade, largely due to the power of grenades in this game. Throw down one of these and capturing targets becomes much easier.

Weapon pros and cons

Where is the GPR in the BO6 meta?

As mentioned, we’ve seen a number of pro players using the GPR in tournaments, which suggests we could see it in the meta in the long term, similar to what’s happened in previous CoD titles.

According to WZStats, the weapon currently only has a 2% pick rate, sixth out of the seven assault rifles, though a lot of that could be because players are unlocking weapons after they’re unlocked and are in the process of leveling up.

How to unlock it

The GPR is unlocked by reaching level 28 in Black Ops 6.

This only takes a few hours of gameplay and means you can focus on beating the early unlocks and getting your gold camos.

Best GPR Alternative

If you’re looking for something other than the GPR, the XM4 will be the first AR you unlock and perhaps the best.

However, the AMES 85 can pack a serious punch, while the Model L is becoming more common as players start using it, as it excels at medium to longer distances. However, feel free to check out our list of the best ARs in Black Ops 6 to see how we rank them all.
