Amaravati is among the top three cities in the world: Narayana

Kakinada: Capital Amaravati will be one of the three world-class cities, Urban and Municipal Development Minister P. Narayana said here on Tuesday.

Speaking to media after holding a coordination meeting within the ruling alliance partners here, he said that on October 29, a committee of chief engineers had submitted its report on the tenders for construction of the capital city at Amaravati.

Following this, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has directed the officials concerned to float tenders by December and complete the construction of the capital Amaravati within three years.

The minister said the World Bank will lend ₹15,000 crore for the construction of Amaravati. Building bungalows for ministers, judges and civil servants will cost ₹41,000 crore. He pointed out that work on the capital has already started with ₹30,000 crore.

On Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan’s comments on the police station, Narayana said disagreements are normal in an alliance. He underlined that to resolve these issues, coordination committee meetings will take place within the alliance partners, during which welfare, development activities and the implementation of government schemes will be reviewed.

The minister said wherever elections to civic bodies, including the Kakinada Municipal Corporation, have not been held, elections will be announced soon.

He alleged that the previous government had emptied the exchequer and pushed the state into a ₹10 lakh crore debt trap. He underlined that almost every department under the YSRC regime had incurred debts after mortgaging state properties. But they didn’t make any development.

Narayana underlined that the chief minister is trying to streamline the state’s economy.

He called on the leaders of the NDA alliance to ensure the victory of the graduate MLC candidate from East and West Godavari Perabathula Rajasekhar.

Peddapuram MLA Nimmakayala China Rajappa and former MLA SVSN Varma were among those present at the coordination meeting.
