Second phase of integrated residential schools that CM will launch on Children’s Day

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Wednesday announced that the state government will launch the second phase of the Young India Integrated Residential Schools project on November 14, coinciding with Children’s Day celebrations. Addressing an interactive meeting with students of welfare hostels at the secretariat, he said a grand event involving 15,000 students will be organized in Hyderabad where he will make a formal announcement about the project.

This comes in the wake of the launch of the new initiative on October 11, which aims to establish quality residential schools in each of the state’s 119 constituencies. If we try to serve students from SC, ST, BC and minority communities, it will cost ‘5,000 crore’.

As part of the initial phase, foundation stones of 28 schools were laid with Reddy performing bhumi puja at Kondurg in Shadnagar Assembly constituency.

Each school, designed to support students from Grade 4 to Grade 12, will be built on 20 to 25 acres and accommodate up to 2,500 students. Construction of these schools is expected to be completed by next academic year, increasing access to quality education for underprivileged students across Telangana.

In his address, the Chief Minister said that the state government is committed to strengthening the welfare of students as evidenced by the recent increase in diet and cosmetic allowances for students of welfare hostels. “The main objective of the Congress government is to provide quality education, healthcare and employment to all. The secretariat is like the heart of the state administration. I have invited students here with the hope that they will be so inspired that they will pursue higher education and work as secretariat staff in the future and become partners in the state administration,” Reddy said.

Highlighting recent achievements in education, CM Revanth mentioned that 21,000 teachers have been promoted and 11,062 teaching positions have been filled recently.

He outlined the additional initiatives, including setting up the Young India Skills University to provide vocational training, and transforming ITIs into Advanced Training Centers (ATCs) in collaboration with the Tata Institute, with an aim to improve the employability of youth through the improve technical skills. He said the Young India Sports University was established with the aim of nurturing sports talent and enhancing Telangana’s chances of winning Olympic medals.

The Prime Minister called on students to exercise social responsibility, such as reporting drug trafficking activities they come across by calling 100.
