After not returning for Deadpool and Wolverine, X-Men: First Class actor Azazel explains his decision

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is known for constantly releasing new content, both in theaters and via streaming with a Disney+ subscription. The latest film to hit the big screen was Shawn Levy’s Deadpool and Wolverinewhich broke records at the box office and featured a ton of cameos. And after not returning for Deadpool 3, X-Men: First ClassAzazel Actor explained his decision.

Deadpool & WolverineThe cameos really helped elevate the proceedings, with some beloved actors from Fox’s Marvel projects returning for a final bow. But there were some new actors in roles, thanks to The Void being chock full of variants. It turns out X-Men: First Class actor Jason Flemyng was asked to play the teleporting Azazel, but he withdrew. He explained to CBM that since the role was mostly only for action scenes, he did not feel the need to return. In the words of Flemyng:

It was the same. The same thing happened. Basically, they came to us and said, ‘Do you want to do it? It’s three days of fighting, two days of makeup testing. Basically you are hired as a stunt performer.’ Mate, listen, if I needed a few grand I would have done it, but I didn’t at the time, so I thought, ‘You know what, get a stuntman to do it and he’ll do it right. . It’s fine.’ It didn’t really hurt me because everyone keeps saying, ‘Man, we saw you in Deadpool, another big movie.’ Okay, if I get some autographs at Comic-Con because I was in Deadpool, I’ll take it (laughs).
