Conveniently enough, Boston is where Leighton’s girlfriend Alicia (Midori Francis) just got a job offer. (The storyline seemed like a subtle reference to Rapp’s song “I Hate Boston.”)

Based on the preseason preview, Rapp, 25, is expected to make more appearances before Leighton officially heads to MIT. Before her departure was announced, Rapp said the first year filming the show was “terrible” for her.

“It was so bad because I was in a heteronormative relationship at the time. I hated going to work because I thought, ‘I don’t think I’m good enough to be here. I don’t think I can be here. I don’t think I can do this,” Rapp shared on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast in March 2023. “I thought, ‘Maybe I’m just trying too hard.’ I was so freaked out by the idea of ​​my sexuality, that I wasn’t finite or that people were laughing at me or that I was laughing at myself, that I hated the first year of filming.
