Brighton plan next wonderkid transfer as Seagulls eye 20-year-old EFL star who has already captained his team

BRIGHTON are set to land Sheffield United’s rising star Ollie Arblaster as their next big signing.

The Seagulls captains have made the midfielder (20) their top target despite the flood of new arrivals.

And they are prepared to pay at least £20million for Arblaster, who was already captain of Chris Wilder’s team.

The Blades supporter is in no hurry to leave, but his fan base is growing and there is a chance he could receive an offer or two in January.

And a local star like Arblaster would fit in with Brighton’s strategy as they look to find players who can improve them but who can also be sold at some point.

Moises Caicedo, Marc Cucurella and Alexis Mac Allister are among the players who have been sold for big profits in recent seasons.

The Seagulls’ strategy was also evident this summer with the arrival of nine players, all aged 24 or under.

New coach Fabian Hurzeler has already included them in his selection and has started the season undefeated.

Arblaster has scored twice in four Championship games for the Blades this season, who are also still undefeated in the league.

Those matches included the last two matches against Norwich and Watford, in which he captained his team.

The England Under-20 international also made 12 Premier League appearances last season after breaking into the first team.

However, he could not immediately save the club from relegation.

Wilder’s return to Bramall Lane in December failed to give the club any chance of survival.

The Blades finished the season bottom of the Premier League with 16 points, having won just three games during the campaign.
