Retail sales growth in Turkey strongest in 5 months | 11.10.24

(RTTNews) – Turkish retail sales rose at the fastest pace in five months in August, the Turkish Statistical Institute said Friday.

Retail sales volume rose 13.3 percent year-on-year in August, following a 5.8 percent increase in July. This was the fastest increase since March, when sales increased by 19.8 percent.

Sales of food, beverages and tobacco alone increased by 11.3 percent, and those of non-food products increased by 17.0 percent compared to last year.

On a monthly basis, retail sales rose 2.2 percent, compared to an increase of 0.5 percent a month ago. This was the third increase in a row.

In August, wholesale sales rose 3.1 percent from a year ago and 3.5 percent from the previous month.
