Unemployment rate in Hong Kong stable at 3.0% | 18.10.24

(RTTNews) – Hong Kong’s unemployment rate remained stable from July to September, labor force statistics from the Census and Statistics Department showed on Friday.

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 3.0 percent in July to September, the same as in the period June to August.

The data showed that the unemployment rate remained stable at 1.2 percent.

Without adjustments, the unemployment rate fell from 3.2 percent to 3.1 percent.

The number of unemployed stood at 119,900, compared to 122,300 in the June-August period.

“The overall labor market should remain tight in the near term, alongside continued economic growth, although the employment situation may vary by sector depending on business performance,” said Chris Sun, Minister of Labor and Welfare.
