New Vishay Intertechnology Silicon PIN Photodiode Enhances Sensitivity in Biomedical Applications

Key features include a larger sensitive area of 6.0mm², higher reverse luminous flux and a small form factor of 4.8mm by 2.5mm by 0.5mm

MALVERN, Pa., Aug. 14, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) today released a new silicon PIN photodiode that offers increased sensitivity in the visible/near-infrared wavelength range for biomedical applications such as heart rate and blood oxygen monitoring. The new VEMD8082 features increased reverse light flux, reduced diode capacitance, and faster rise and fall times compared to previous generation solutions. Additionally, its small form factor of 4.8 mm by 2.5 mm by 0.5 mm makes it suitable for integration into low-profile devices such as smartwatches.
