Udaipur violence: Class 10 boy stabbed by fellow student dies days after attack; heavy security deployed in city – India News

The 15-year-old Udaipur boy, who was in class 10 and was stabbed by a fellow student, died on Monday after a four-day battle for his life, authorities said.

The incident had earlier led to unrest in the city. According to Udaipur Collector Arvind Poswal, the boy’s sister tied a rakhi to him in the hospital, hours before he passed away.

His body has been shifted to the mortuary for an autopsy. “The body will be handed over to his family after the autopsy,” said Inspector General of Police Ajaypal Lamba.

A large police presence was deployed outside the district hospital and in various parts of the city to maintain law and order, officials said. The victim was attacked by a fellow student outside their school on Friday.

After the incident, local police arrested the attacker and detained his father. In response to the unrest on Friday, the city had imposed stricter security measures and suspended mobile internet services.

In protest against the stabbing, some members of Hindu groups set fire to cars at a garage and vandalized a shop in a shopping mall. Due to the unrest, all government and private schools were closed till further notice and prohibitory orders were also issued banning public gatherings.
