Two Class 8 Students Drown in Dhule

Nashik: Two 14 year old boys drowned in Nimdale village of Dhule district on Friday. The deceased boys, both Class VIII Students from a school in the same village were having a class picnic when the incident took place at 12 noon.
The boys have been identified as Hitesh Suryawanshi and Mayur Khonde. Dhule’s West Deopur police have registered a case of accidental death.
The school in Nimdale had organised a picnic for the students at a lake about 3 km from the school. Suryawanshi and Khinde had gone into the water to play. However, they could not judge the depth of the water and started drowning.
As soon as some school officials noticed that the two students had entered the water and were drowning, they rushed to the spot and tried to pull them out. Later, some villagers dived into the water and pulled the two boys out. They were then taken to Dhule Medical College. However, the doctors at the medical college and the hospital declared that the students were “brought dead”.
Police say they are investigating how the boys entered the lake and where the teachers and counselors were at the time of the incident.
