Armie Hammer Sells Truck Because He ‘Can’t Afford Gas Anymore’

Armie Hammer confirmed that his circumstances are forcing him to downsize. In a new video on his Instagram, the actor explained that he’s selling his beloved 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali pickup truck because he can no longer afford gas.

“I’ve been back in LA for a couple weeks now, this is my truck,” Hammer said in the clip. “I bought this for myself as a Christmas present in 2017. I’ve really appreciated this truck and have taken it on multiple camping trips and across the country and long road trips, and I took it on one last road trip to CarMax.”

He added that the video is “not an ad for CarMax” and instead confirmed that he has decided to sell the truck. “Since I got back to L.A., I’ve put about $400 or $500 in gas in it, and I can’t afford it anymore,” Hammer said. “I can’t afford the gas.”

He recalled making some great memories in the truck, including driving his kids home from the hospital. “But you know what? That’s okay,” he continued. “I got a new car. It’s small. It’s a hybrid. I’m probably going to put about $10 a month in gas in it, and this is it. Off to a new beginning. Tomorrow’s my birthday.”

The actor added that he will “start his birthday in a new car, in a new apartment, in a new life in Los Angeles.”

After disappearing from the public eye in 2021 amid allegations of cannibalism and sexual abuse and rape by multiple women, Hammer has recently resurfaced in Los Angeles. In June, he spoke about the allegations on the Painful lessons podcast, hosted by his “good friend” Tyler Ramsey.

“People said things about me that just felt so bizarre. Now I can look at it with a sense of distance and perspective and think, ‘That’s hilarious.’ People called me a cannibal and everyone believed them,” Hammer said. “They were like, ‘Yeah, this guy ate people.’ And you’re like, ‘What? What are you talking about? You know what you have to do to be a cannibal? You have to eat people. How can I be a cannibal?’ It was bizarre.”

During the podcast, he added: “What I’ll say about it, even in the contradictions, even in what people said, what happened — I’m at a point in my life now where I’m grateful for every bit of it. I’m actually at a point now where I’m really grateful for it, because where I was in my life before all of this stuff happened to me, I didn’t feel good. I never felt satisfied. I never had enough, I was never at a point where I was happy with myself, where I had self-respect. I never knew how to give myself love. I never knew how to give myself validation.”

Last month Hammer appeared on Piers Morgan Uncensoredin which he denied ever having “eaten human flesh.” “You know what it takes to be a cannibal?” he told Morgan. “You really have to have eaten someone.”

He noted of the sexual abuse allegations: “Any of those conversations that we had within that relationship, if you take them out of that context and put them in the full light of day, it doesn’t look very good. You know, different people have different sexual fantasies. And there’s a very broad spectrum of sexuality, and people are allowed to engage with their own sexuality in whatever way feels right for them and what they do.”
