Nottinghamshire man jailed for role in Lincolnshire and Leicestershire County Borders drugs gang

The tenth member of a gang that transported drugs through the region has been jailed.

Kayden Marriott, 22, has been sentenced to five years and six months in prison for possession of heroin, cocaine and large amounts of cash in connection with the sale of drugs.

His gang transported large quantities of heroin and cocaine from Nottinghamshire via Lincolnshire and Leicestershire between January 2022 and February 2023.

Vulnerable people and children as young as 13 years old were used as ‘couriers’ to transport the drugs.

Police carried out a series of raids following an investigation led by Nottinghamshire Police’s County Lines Team, which involved hours of CCTV footage and numerous mobile phone downloads.

Nine gang members were sentenced to a total of 32 years in prison in April and June.

Marriott, from Swingate, Strelley, was the last member to appear in court on Tuesday (August 27).

In another incident on December 10, 2020, Marriott was caught with heroin, cocaine and large amounts of cash while trying to elude police.

Further Class A drugs were found at a property in Eastwood, Nottingham, and evidence was found linking him to the sale of cannabis.

Marriott pleaded guilty to conspiracy to supply Class A drugs, possession with intent to supply Class A drugs, being concerned in the supply of Class B drugs and possession of criminal property.

Constable Charlie Sylvester said: “We are pleased that the tenth member of this gang has now been convicted for their involvement in this damaging drug trade.

“This group smuggled large quantities of Class A drugs across the region, exploiting young and vulnerable people to do their bidding and taking all the risks on their behalf.

“Kayden Marriott knowingly played a role in all of this, while his involvement in a separate drug supply case before that demonstrated that this was not an isolated foray into drug trafficking.

“Many hours of detective work have gone into investigating this county lines conspiracy, with a number of police teams working together to bring those involved to justice.

“This included our own proactive County Lines team and police colleagues from neighbouring forces in Lincolnshire and Leicestershire.

“These types of criminal gangs cause devastating damage to communities, which is why so much work is being put into stopping them and why we will continue to do everything in our power to dismantle these types of plots.”
