Spartan Race: French hero and Czech champion triumphs

Zell am See-Kaprun will be in the running for the Spartan European Championship at the Hotspot of the Obstacle Course Elite from 6 to 8 September 2024.

ZELL AM SEE-KAPRUN. As the first destination in Austria, the Alpine region is called the prestigious event in the Spartan Trifecta weekends. With 4,500 starters from 43 nations and 1,200 athletes, who are fighting for a European Masters title, war is an international highlight. The victory is secured by Gregory Basilico from France and Zuzana Kocumova from the Czech Republic. Michael Sauer was the best on the Österreicher Platz, where Stefanie Habeler ended up on the podium with a strong fourth place.

The assembled forces on the free day ran 300 young Spartans at Spartan Kids, who fell with the suppressed camp spirit and the spas one of the movement brilliance. On Saturday the King’s Disziplin is on the program: The Spartan European Championship on the Beast-Distanz (26 km, 30 obstacles, 2,000 height meters) – one of the heart tests and the most beautiful stripes of the world. The route first runs from Maiskogel-Parkplatz in Kaprun to the Klammsee on the Dreiwallnerhöhe and back, with a spectacular highlight during the Sigmund Thun Klamm. At the end of the week a hobby athlete continued with the shifting of distances and the start and positioned themselves with beeindruckender Beteiligung der Herausforderung.

French doppelganger

With a time of 2:47:04 Gregory Basilico (FRA) wins the European Masters title in the men’s category. His countryman Thibault Jean (FRA) has an exciting Kopf-an-Kopf-Run with the title maker Luca Pescollderungg (ITA) on the zweiten Platz. In the women’s category Zuzana Kocumova (CZE) triumphed with 3:30:09, followed by Andrea Berquez (GBR) and Eszter Hortobágyiová (SVK). Best Austrian woman Stefanie Habeler, who only just passed the podium and finished fourth. On Sunday, September 8, 300 athletes were present in Zell am See-Kaprun, who were sent out as the “Trifecta Athletes”. These events are a fact, all three distances between Sprint, Super and Beast have been great for a few years.
