Police neutralize one suspected armed robber, arrest six others in Kaduna

Operatives of the Kaduna State Police have arrested one suspected kidnapper and five notorious armed robbers and neutralised one person in Kaduna.

This was stated in a statement by the spokesperson of the command, ASP Mansir Hassan, on Thursday in Kaduna.

Hassan said that men of Operation Fushi Kada, led by the Commander, based on technical and reliable information, intercepted a notorious armed robbery organisation along the Karji/Sabon Tasha axis of the state on Tuesday.

The PPRO explained that during the operation, a heavy gun battle took place between the armed robbers and the police.

According to Hassan, the five suspects are: Gideon Martins, Joy Gideon (wife), Joshua Gama, Umar Usman and Bashir Yusuf.

“However, thanks to the superior firepower of the police, five suspects were arrested while one suspect, Christopher Bobai, also known as ‘Baban Dodo’, was seriously injured while trying to flee. He was pronounced dead by a doctor.

“All suspects have confessed to the crime and are cooperating with police to arrest other gang members who are still at large.

“The following pieces of evidence were recovered from the suspects: one British-made pistol, one locally-made pistol, one Nigerian Army camouflage uniform, three machetes, four pairs of jungle boots, six SIM cards, two sets of black uniforms and two jungle caps,” Hassan said.

He disclosed that on Wednesday, acting on reliable information about the movements of a suspected kidnapper, police officers swung into swift action and successfully arrested one Saidu Inusa, also known as ‘Haske’, a resident of Burinta, Bishini Ward in Kachia Local Government Area.

He said that during interrogation, the suspect confessed to being involved in several kidnapping operations in the state. An AK-47 rifle was also recovered from the suspect.

According to Hassan, Police Chief Ali Dabigi stressed the importance of community involvement in ensuring public safety.

He also assured the citizens that the police would continue with its current commitment in the ongoing fight against armed robbers and bandits in the state.
