Our North Carolina bees produced 311 pounds of honey in 2023, traveling 17 million miles! See how our partnership with Bee Downtown supports sustainable agriculture and pollinator health, while encouraging employee engagement.

To promote pollinator health, MetLife supports programs that maintain beehives at several of our office locations. At our campuses in Cary, North Carolina, and Tampa, Florida, we partner with Bee Downtown to maintain honeybee hives and provide year-round employee engagement opportunities. In North Carolina, these bees produced 311 pounds of honey in 2023 (double the state average), traveling an estimated 17 million miles.

MetLife also sponsors beehives maintained through our partnership with The Best Bees Company at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, which aims to promote pollination in the surrounding rangeland ecosystem. MetLife and MIM also initiate investments that support biodiversity and healthy ecosystems.
