Delhi Police arrests parolee convict in murder case

The Delhi Crime Branch has successfully arrested Pintoo Bishwas, a parole jumper who was convicted for murdering a woman during a house robbery, police confirmed on Saturday. Bishwas, 50, originally from Nadia, West Bengal, was sentenced to life imprisonment along with his two accomplices.

In 2008, a case of house robbery and murder of a woman was registered in PS Shakarpur, Delhi. Among the arrested were Manoj, Bishwas and Santo Pada. Manoj, a domestic help for the victim, conspired with the others to commit the robbery and then strangled the house owner to hide their identity.

After the investigation, Bishwas and his associates were convicted. After being released on parole in May 2021, Bishwas fled. Police traced him to his native village in Nadia, West Bengal, after painstaking efforts. Bishwas was kept under surveillance by his family members, which led to his arrest and return to Delhi, where he has been re-imprisoned.
