Workers’ 5,000 collective bargaining agreement over old union benefits wins approval

Former employees of Parsec Inc. received initial court approval for their $615,000 settlement in a lawsuit challenging the working conditions of their former union.

The deal is expected to benefit about 362 people covered by two National Production Workers Union severance and 401(k) plans due to their previous employment with Parsec, an intermodal transportation company. The settlement amount represents about 35% of the workers’ estimated losses related to their claim that the plans paid excessive compensation to two internal employees, the settlement motion said.
