From playful toddlers to learned seniors
The curriculum for preschool classes is based on play and activity, with a strong focus on helping them settle into the school environment and instilling a love for learning, and enhancing social interactions. As the little ones find their way to the portals of VGS, it is ensured that their ‘soon to begin’ journey will be a smooth sailing and a much-praised journey of life. We believe in the saying “Catch them young”. Therefore, nurturing the young saplings with immense love and care and infusing the rainbow of their imagination with enriching pastel shades of experiences is the first step towards this venture. Student engagement is ensured through a series of activities such as clay play, rainbow tracing, role play, show and tell and storytellingLearning the alphabet is done through action, rhyme and reading pictures. Smartboard activitiesPowerPoint presentations and videos make them want to learn more. With the Phonetics Awareness Program At the preschool level, we want to create a multi-sensory learning experience and begin to solidify their letter-sound coordination. Sing along and recite helps children improve their pronunciation, diction and intonation skills, thus strengthening their phonetic foundation. Library books are given to children every week to developing the habit of reading among these young, impressionable minds. Listening skills are improved by audio stories followed by group discussions. Children learn to use vocabulary as they read pictures and construct sentences. From holding a pencil to drawing it, children are prepared from day one to consider their favorable position in society.

“My ward was shy and introverted, but since she joined school, there has been a complete change. The kind of activities and stage experience she has been given under the careful guidance of her teachers is exceptional. We did not realise how smoothly she has now grown into a confident and expressive person,” says Mr. Amit Hooda, a parent of a Kindergarten student. At the primary and secondary levels, we strive to achieve academic excellence and enhance creativity. Teachers and classmates discover the wonders of books and marvel at their magic by teaching critical reading using multiple strategies such as group work, research, reflection and presentationMathematical skills and scientific aptitude are developed through visualization of concepts and practical experiences to enable students to develop cognitive mind maps for perpetual and progressive learning.

The academic terrain in the Senior School is built around the principles of knowledge, understanding, application and critical appreciation. The students’ abstract knowledge becomes rich enough to find expression in activities such as ‘Guided visualization’a major achievement in achieving the embodiment of Bloom’s Taxonomy of Cognitive Development.
Ms. Payal, mother of a Class 9 student, sums up her experience quite simply: “I am amazed by the initiative-taking skills my ward has developed over the years. There is a strong urge to think new and do things differently. The school keeps providing new opportunities and activities for students and I am very impressed when I see my son working with his group over Zoom calls to brainstorm and come up with ideas.”
