There are serious traffic delays on the A1M due to an electrical problem in the Hatfield Tunnel.

The A1M is closed northbound between junctions 3 and 4 and southbound between junctions 4 and 2 due to an electrical problem in the Hatfield Tunnel.

There are more travel disruptions in London today as the Tube will be hit by planned closures this weekend due to engineering work.

The District line will be partially closed between Turnham Green and Richmond, while the Metropolitan line will be completely closed.

The Piccadilly line will also be closed from South Harrow to Uxbridge, and the DLR will be partially closed at Bank and Tower Gateway to Poplar and West India Quay.

It follows an accident on the M25 near junction 6 for Clacket Lane services yesterday which left a motorcyclist dead. A truck believed to have been involved drove away and police want to speak to the driver.


COLLISION OF AN A5 MOTORCYCLE

The A5 into Buckinghamshire is closed in both directions between the A421 Redmoor Roundabout and the A509 Portway Roundabout in Milton Keynes due to a serious collision involving a motorcycle.

Thames Valley Police are at the scene and the road is expected to be closed during the morning as a collision investigation takes place.

A1M DELAYS

The A1M is closed this morning northbound between J3 and J4 and southbound between J4 and J2.

Traffic is being diverted and technicians are on site.

For southbound diversions:

  • Leave the A1M J4 and at the roundabout take the third exit towards Hatfield A1001.
  • At the next roundabout take the third exit towards St Albans A1001.
  • At the ‘Galleria’ roundabout take the 2nd exit towards Conley Heath A1001.
  • At the ‘Roehyde’ roundabout take the second exit towards London A1M
  • At the next roundabout take the second exit to join the A1M J2.

For northbound detours:

  • Leave the A1M junction 3 and at the roundabout take the 2nd exit off the ‘Roehyde’ roundabout towards Hatfield.
  • At the roundabout ‘Galleria’ take the 2nd exit.
  • At the next roundabout take the third exit and follow signs for ‘Hartford A1001 (A414)’.
  • At the next ‘Clock’ roundabout take the second exit to join the A1M J4.

UNDERGROUND LINE CLOSURES

There are planned closures across the board this weekend, with thousands of trips expected to be affected.

The District, DLR, Overground, Metropolitan, Piccadilly and Waterloo and City lines are all facing planned or partial closures.

The rest of the line – and the rest of the pipe network – currently has good service.
