Updated 5 best candidates to replace Erik Ten Haag as Manchester United Manager | News, scores, highlights, stats and rumors

As unlikely as it seems that Zinedine Zidane would end his football hiatus for United, his presence could challenge the club in the way it needs.

Zizou is a strong personality–he literally headbutted Marco Materazzi in the 2006 World Cup final–and has the presence to take absolutely zero prisoners. Just being at Old Trafford could be powerful enough to give players a ruthless advantage that has long been missing.

Of course, Zidane is also a talented manager.

He won everything with Real Madrid, including a ridiculous Champions League goal. He did this by playing fast and attacking football, while picking a consistent team that was well drilled and expressive. It certainly helped to have Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and stars of that caliber, but managing that kind of expectant character is no easy task.

Zidane is a man who understands how to navigate, challenge and get through all the club politics that can make working at such a high level so grueling for others. United could use someone who isn’t prepared to put up with nonsense.
