Akron comes in with offers

Akron football head coach and Pittsburgh native Joe Moorhead hasn’t been shy about recruiting his hometown since taking over the Zips program.

Moorhead already has seven WPIAL/City League recruits on its current roster and two more on the way with the commitments of Vann Kavals (OLSH) and Jaiden Brown-Demery (West Mifflin) in the class of 2025. Moorhead has extended six more offers to prospective recruits in the Pittsburgh pipeline.

Three offers went to Clairton Bears. 2026 Prospects Donte Wright (DB/ATH) and Taris Wooding (WR/DB) received their first DI offers from the Zips. 2028 athlete Brandon Murphy also added an Akron offer after adding his first from Syracuse – before playing some high school football.

Seton La Salle sophomores Nelson Coleman (WR/CB) and Richard Littlejohn (WR/SS) also added Akron offers. Both prospects now have two FBS offers, with Coleman picking up his first from West Virginia, while Littlejohn received an offer from Miami (Oh.).

Pine-Richland 2026 wide receiver/defensive back Dajaun Webb also added his first offer from Moorhead and the Akron Zips on Thursday.

Lehman continues to add Power Four Suiters

Peters Township junior defensive end Reston Lehman has been on a tear lately, receiving five Power Four offers in two weeks. Boston College, Penn State and Pitt all extended offers to the rising prospect. Now West Virginia and Maryland have joined the mix, receiving offers within 24 hours.

Maryland is shaping up to be an intriguing offer for the 6-4, 230-pound edge rusher, with former Peters Township teammate Dante Recker committing to the Terps in the class of 2025 after a prep year.
