Tempel forders Verkaufsverbot for schlechtes Prasad! – Nachrichten AG

In Madhya Pradesh, a temple trust has called for a ban on the sale of laddus after devotees raised concerns about its quality. The demand follows reports of an unpleasant odor and taste, linked to claims that adulterated ghee was used in its preparation at the famous Sri Venkateswara temple. The trust, which manages the Vindhyavasni Beejasan Devi temple, has submitted a memorandum to the local authorities urging a ban on these laddus being sold locally by a self-help group. Located on a hillock near Bhopal, the temple attracts many devotees, especially during the Navratri festival.

Sehore collector Praveen Singh said a meeting took place between the trust and the self-help group, which employs several women, to address the situation. While discussions appear to be leading to a resolution, this episode reflects broader community concerns about the purity of religious offerings. In particular, previous incidents such as the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya banning offerings from outside agencies highlight the ongoing scrutiny of the quality of prasad in temples. Chief priest Acharya Satyendra Das also raised concerns over the ghee sold across India, advocating preparation under the supervision of only temple priests and urging a complete ban on outside culinary contributions in all major temples and monasteries, as reported by www.hinduismtoday .com.
